Malachi Jones

School: Appalachian State
Position: WR
Positive: Three-year starter who posted a career-best 36 receptions for 585 yards as a junior. Senior totals included 25 receptions with 463 yards. Underrated pass catching prospect with a nice upside. Reliable in all aspects, displays terrific awareness and gets into the clearing to make himself an available target. Possesses soft hands, adjusts to the errant throw and makes the difficult catch with defenders draped on him. Nicely tracks the ball in the air and extends to make the reception away from his frame. Gives effort blocking downfield.
Negative: Marginal run after the catch skill. One speed receiver and lacks the 2nd gear. Minimally productive on the college level.
Analysis: Jones has teased scouts the past two seasons and is a prospect who flashes next level ability but also shows a great deal of inconsistency in his game. He offers solid size/speed numbers as well as pass catching skills and should get consideration on a practice squad.
