Jerald Hawkins

School: LSU
Position: T
Positive: Three-year starter that's lined up at left and right tackle. Nice sized and relatively athletic tackle prospect coming off a disappointing campaign. Explosive, shows the ability to adjust and plays with a good degree of agility. Gets his hands into opponents, strong at the point and a solid run blocker. Stays square, controls defenders and anchors in pass protection. Flashes footwork off the edge and keeps his feet moving on contact.
Negative: Seemingly played back on his heels last year. Gets pushed back into the pocket. Gets tall as the play proceeds. Not light on his feet and rumbles out to the 2nd level. Very inconsistent with his overall technique.
Analysis: After two solid seasons at LSU when he looked like a top prospect, Hawkins played terribly at times in 2015. At the top of his game he's a big, strong offensive lineman effective as both a run blocker and in pass protection. He offers terrific upside but must quickly get his game back on track.
