Lamarcus Brutus

School: Florida State
Position: S
Positive: Posted a career-best 68 tackles and 3 interceptions last year when he broke into the starting lineup. Underrated safety with a terrific game. Instinctive, effectively reads or anticipates the action and takes good angles to the play. Stays with cover assignments, works well with cornerbacks and constantly around the action. Displays good speed laterally getting to the flanks, displays a closing burst to the action and effectively anticipates his pass breakup. Gives effort against the run and shows himself to be a solid open field tackler.
Negative: Possesses just average man cover skills. Displays average recovery speed. Marginally productive until last season. Times terribly during the combine.
Analysis: Entering the year Brutus received little notice from NFL scouts but went on to produce a tremendous season. He's a developing prospect with a complete game and offers the ability to line up in a variety of next level systems.
