Wendell Smallwood

School: West Virginia
Position: RB
Positive: Two-year starter awarded all-Conference honors last season after a career-best 1519 rushing yards and 9 TDs. Also added 26 receptions. Nice sized ball carrier best running downhill. Gets a lot of momentum going up the field, shows a burst through the hole and tough to bring down. Keeps his feet moving on contact, works runs and falls forward when tackled. Has a bruising style and punishes defenders. Displays solid vision and effectively uses his blocks.
Negative: Not a creative runner, loses a lot of momentum changing direction and best in a straight line. Runs with an upright style and does not have a big frame. One speed ball carrier that cannot run to daylight.
Analysis: Smallwood is a solid prospect with next level computer numbers but an unpolished game. He offers possibilities as a 4th back but must earn his wage on special teams.
