Josh Ferguson

School: Illinois
Position: RB
Positive: Four-year starter who totaled 708 yards in just nine games last season. Quick, elusive ball carrier also effective catching the ball out of the backfield. Possesses terrific short area quickness, sets defenders up and makes them miss. Easily avoids piles, loses little momentum changing direction and has a smooth style. Runs with good lean, keeps his feet moving on contact and works runs. Patiently waits for blocks to develop then displays a burst of quickness which he turns on in a single step. Solid pass catcher extending his hands to make the reception away from his frame and catching the ball in stride.
Negative: At times does too much dancing around rather than taking it up the field. Lacks classic size/speed numbers. Has an injury history.
Analysis: After in injury riddled senior campaign, Ferguson performed well during Shrine Game practices. He has enough skill and versatility to make a roster as a third-down back or situational runner.
