Joel Stave

School: Wisconsin
Position: QB
Positive: Full-time starter the past three seasons who finished with 2687 yards passing and 11 scores last year. Also tossed 11 INT's. Tall, fairly athletic signal caller with a streaky game. Possesses a quick release, passes immediately get to the intended target and throws a catchable ball. Puts touch on throws when necessary. Patient, locates the open wide out and easily gets outside the pocket to make the throw on the move. Stands in the pocket and takes a big hit to get the ball away.
Negative: Stares down the primary target and very slow going to secondary receivers. All over the place with throws and misses open wide outs. Has a hitch in his throwing motion.
Analysis: There's a wide variety of opinion on Stave's next level potential in the scouting community with some believing he's a terrific developmental prospect worthy of being selected early in the 3rd day of the draft. And while he has an upside, Stave will need a lot of work from the ground up before he'll ever be NFL ready.
