Jason Vander Laan

School: Ferris State
Position: QB
Positive: Four-year starter awarded all-Conference honors since his sophomore season and twice named winner of the Harlon Hill Trophy. Senior passing totals included 2625 yards, 27 touchdowns and 7 INTs, when he completed 65.6% of his throws. Also added 1542 yards rushing and 24 additional scores. Athletically gifted college quarterback who may end up changing positions at the next level. Fast and runs with an aggressive style. Has a burst up the field, breaks tackles and competes. Sells the ball fakes, finds the open wide out and patiently buys time for receivers. Puts touch on throws when necessary and displays velocity on intermediate passes.
Negative: Stiff and mechanical delivering the ball and short arms his motion. Cannot drive deep throws. Has receivers adjusting or waiting on the ball downfield.
Analysis: Vander Laan was tremendously productive on the small school level and is a special-teams prospect who may get consideration at running back or as a red zone signal caller.
