Blake Frohnapfel

School: UMass
Position: QB
Positive: Two-year starter who began his college career at Marshall. Career-best 3345 yards passing and 23 touchdowns came during his junior season. Tall, strong-armed passer with an inconsistent game. Patient in the pocket, scans the field going through progressions and senses the rush. Displays a sense of knowing where his receivers are on the field, for the most part makes proper choices in the pocket and displays pocket awareness. Buys time for pass catchers, shows terrific field vision and always in control of the situation. Puts the ball in front of targets and lets them run to the pass. Gets the ball through the tight spots and throws with velocity.
Negative: Does not consistently release the ball with proper mechanics. Sprays throws on occasion and misses open targets. Late with passes.
Analysis: Frohnapfel has been productive the past two seasons and offers the size as well as the arm strength to play at the next level but is a streaky passer who must improve the consistency of his throwing mechanics.
