Stephen Weatherly

School: Vanderbilt
Position: OLB
Positive: Former defensive end who moved to linebacker and started the past two seasons. Career totals of 55 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks came during his sophomore season. Athletic linebacker prospect with tremendous upside. Quick, explosive and sells out to make plays. Fires up the field, breaks down well and uses his hands to protect himself. Strong, holds his ground against blocks or discards them altogether getting to the play. Displays speed in both a straight line as well as laterally and runs down ball handlers in backside pursuit. Shows a good change of direction, intense and constantly around the action.
Negative: Streaky and disappears for stretches. Coming off a disappointing junior season. Inefficient and takes too many steps to get to the action.
Analysis: Weatherly is an athletic prospect with the size, speed and mentality to eventually develop into a starting outside linebacker in the NFL.
