Gionni Paul

School: Utah
Position: OLB
Positive: Two-year starter who began his college career at Miami. All-Conference selection last season after posting a career-best 117 tackles as well as 13.5 tackles for loss. Tough, instinctive linebacker with size limitations. Does a terrific job anticipating plays before they unfold, remains disciplined with assignments and sells out to make the tackle. Quick up the field, stacks well against the run and shows a good head for the ball. Gets depth on pass drops, takes proper angles to the action and effectively uses his hands to protect himself.
Negative: Small, struggles getting off blocks and easily engulfed by opponents. Does not time well in the 40, lacks lateral speed and has only a short burst. Possesses short arms and small hands which hurts his ability to finish tackles.
Analysis: Paul is a hustle defender who makes plays with his head rather than athleticism. He's a backup linebacker who projects well on special teams.
