Deion Jones

School: LSU
Position: OLB
Positive: Led LSU in tackles last season after he moved into the starting line-up on a full-time basis. Totals included 100 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and 6 sacks as well as 2 interceptions. Hard-working three down linebacker with a developing game. Explodes up the field filling gaps, flies around the football and wraps up tackling. Breaks down well, uses his hands to protect himself and flows well to the action. Keeps the play in front of him and does a solid job in coverage. Stays with assignments, scrapes well laterally and instinctive. Takes good angles to the play and possesses a closing burst.
Negative: Undersized and overmatched. Not a strong open field tackler. Easily tied up by blocks.
Analysis: After coming off the bench his first 3 seasons at LSU, Jones really watched his game take off last season and was constantly around the ball. He comes with size limitations but offers potential as a backup in a one gap system and should be a demon on special teams.
