Darrell Overton

School: East Carolina
Position: OLB
Positive: Two-year starter awarded all-Conference honors last season after recording 70 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. Also broke up 7 passes. Undersized linebacker with a quick, sudden game. Explosive in both a straight line and laterally, easily changes direction and quickly closes the ball. Gets depth on pass drops, covers a lot of area on the field and shows tremendous sideline to sideline range. Easily redirects to ball handlers and drives through tackles. Plays bigger than his listed size and a forceful, hard hitter.
Negative: Needs a free lane to the action as he will be easily knocked from his angle of attack or blocked from the play. Larger tight ends will create mismatches issues in coverage. Average instincts and may be unable to handle complex defense.
Analysis: Overton is a terrific athlete that could line up in a one gap system and may even get consideration as a strong safety.
