C.J. Johnson

School: Mississippi
Position: OLB
Positive: Three-year starter who totaled 43 tackles, 2 sacks and 2 interceptions as a senior. Primarily lined up at defensive end at Mississippi. Fast, explosive defender who plays with a nice degree of athleticism. Moves well in a straight line as well as laterally, covers a lot of area on the field and has a closing burst to the action. Keeps the play in front of him, stays with assignments and sells out to make the tackle. Defeats the blocks of tight ends to get behind the line scrimmage, plays with excellent pad level and shows speed in pursuit. Easily changes direction and displays a good degree of quickness in his game.
Negative: Size deficient and struggles getting off blocks. Used at the line scrimmage most of his college career and never really asked to make plays moving in reverse.
Analysis: Johnson is an undersized college defensive end who's menaced opposing offenses and projects as a designated pass rusher on Sunday.
