Matthew Pierson

School: Oregon
Position: G
Positive: Former walk-on who started 11 games last season at both left guard and right tackle. Tall, hard-working lineman with limited upside. Blocks with consistent knee bend and leverage, stays square and keeps his head on a swivel. Fires off the snap into blocks, quickly gets his hands up and effectively fights with them throughout the action. Quick if asked to kick out or pull across the line scrimmage and effective blocking on the 2nd level. Works throughout the play. Plays more athletic than his computer numbers would lend one to believe.
Negative: Not a strong or dominant run blocker. Must improve his pass protection techniques.
Analysis: Pierson offers size as well as growth potential and has shown major development in his game the past 2 years which could help him secure a spot on a practice squad.
