Aaron Neary

School: Eastern Washington
Position: G
Positive: Three-year starter awarded All-America honors the past two years. Nasty, small area blocker who gets the most from his ability. Starts with proper knee bend, explosive at the point and strong. Gets after assignments, jolts defenders with explosive hand punch and controls them once engaged in a block. Gets movement run blocking and finishes off opponents. Sees the blitz, gets a pad on defenders and keeps the pocket clean. Lined up at center as a senior and did a good job with the shotgun snaps.
Negative: Heavy footed and ineffective blocking in motion. Lacks footwork in space. Not a bulky lineman.
Analysis: Neary is a hard-working lineman who plays smart, tough football but lacks the athleticism for a zone blocking system and natural size to play in a power running game. His versatility and toughness will get him serious consideration as a backup.
