Ufomba Kamalu

School: Miami-Fl
Position: DT
Positive: Totaled 47 tackles and 4 tackles for loss as a senior when he started 9 games. Junior numbers included 34 tackles in two starts. Large, somewhat athletic defensive line prospect with tremendous upside. Fluid moving to every area of the field, easily changes direction and quick closing to the play. Keeps his feet and hands active throughout the action, effortlessly gets outside the box to make plays and shows ability in space. Plays with a degree of quickness, fires to the action and effective making tackles in open field. Chases the play hard and shows ability in pursuit.
Negative: Struggles getting off blocks and handled by lesser opponents. Average pass rushing skills. Marginally productive and never really stepped up his game.
Analysis: Kamalu is an athletic specimen with size, growth potential and a lot of upside for the next level. He offers possibilities at a number of defensive line systems but must quickly improve his game and produce on the field. He is worth considering in the late rounds as a practice squad player.
