Joel Heath

School: Michigan State
Position: DT
Positive: Two-year starter who finished with a career-best 31 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss as a senior. Underrated interior lineman with size and versatile scheme potential. Fires off the snap with an explosive first step, plays with good lean and keeps his feet moving. Displays strength in his lower body, tough to move off the point and occupies multiple blockers which allows teammates to make plays on the ball. Stays with the action even when blocked and makes a lot of plays on hustle. Above average lateral movement skills.
Negative: Must develop more moves and become quicker disengaging from blocks. Average production and not a true playmaker.
Analysis: Heath is a lineman who does the little things well and comes with next level size as well as growth potential. He can occupy blockers or make plays on the ball and offers possibilities at defensive tackle or defensive end in certain two gap systems at the next level.
