David Dean

School: Virginia
Position: DT
Positive: Three-year starter who posted a career-best 49 tackles, 9 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks as a senior. Intense, high motor player with poor size/speed numbers. Fires off the snap, works his hands throughout the action and displays tremendous quickness. Keeps his feet moving, squeezes through the small creases and makes plays behind the line scrimmage. Consistently plays with good pad level, incredibly explosive and flies around the ball working to make positive plays. Attracts attention on the inside and flashes power.
Negative: Overmatched in the middle by bigger blockers and at times easily knocked off balance or pushed to the ground. Makes most of his plays on hustle rather than pure ability.
Analysis: Dean was a consistent player for Virginia and is the type of prospect who will endear himself to defensive coordinator at the next level. He has size limitations but offers possibilities as a 3 technique tackle in a four-man line.
