Chris Jones

School: Mississippi State
Position: DT
Positive: Moved into the starting lineup last season and finished with a career-best 44 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. Large, relatively athletic big man who controls the action when focused on his game. Fires off the snap with a quick first step, plays with proper pad level and tough to move off the point. Can be a dominant force, annihilates blocks and stops ball handlers in their tracks or forces them to reroute the angle of runs. Splits double-team blocks, gets behind the line of scrimmage and explosive. Attracts attention in the middle of the line and takes up a lot of attention.
Negative: Shows stiffness in his game. Does not display great awareness or instinct. Up and down in his effort.
Analysis: Jones has tremendous physical skills and displayed progress in his game the past two years. That said he's an underachiever at times and must play hard on every snap as well as work off the field to reach the potential NFL decision-makers believe he possesses.
