Jimmy Bean

School: Oklahoma State
Position: DE
Positive: Three-year starter who played in just 8 games last season before tearing a knee ligament. Finished the year with 25 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. Fluid and smooth defensive lineman with poor size/speed numbers. Fires off the snap with a quick first step, works his hands throughout the action and breaks down well. Plays with good pad level, nicely redirects to the action and shows a closing burst. Displays little stiffness in his game, plays with good balance and rarely off his feet. Relatively athletic and shows the ability to make plays in space.
Negative: Lacks bulk, struggles getting off blocks and handled at the point by fullbacks. Average production throughout his college career.
Analysis: Bean offers solid athleticism and growth potential which makes him worth stashing on a practice squad for future development.
