Kalan Reed

School: Southern Mississippi
Position: CB
Positive: Two-year starter named all-Conference selection as a senior after totaling 56 tackles, 4 INT's and 19 PBU's. All-Academic selection throughout much of his college career. Underrated cornerback swiftly moving up draft boards. Instinctive, plays with a nice degree of awareness and knows where opponents are on the field. Quick peddling in reverse, fluid flipping his hips and stays with receivers out of breaks. Displays a sense of timing and anticipation, shows a closing burst and possesses good hands for the interception. Keeps the action in front of him, breaks down well and gives effort defending the run. Competes in all areas of the game.
Negative: Long speed is a concern and can be a liability in deep coverage. A little stiff and mechanical moving in reverse.
Analysis: Reed displayed steady development on the field then watched his game take off last season. He lacks classic height but has enough skill and ability to line up in nickel packages at the next level as either a bump and run corner or in zone coverage.
