David Mims

School: Texas State
Position: CB
Positive: Two-year starter who posted 57 tackles and broke up 5 passes as a senior. Junior numbers included 5 interceptions. Productive cornerback with solid ball skills but poor size/speed numbers. Plays heads-up football, works well with safeties and effective facing the action. Aggressive, works hard defending the run and mixes it up with receivers throughout the route. Stays on the opponents hip out of breaks, displays good timing and quick footed moving in every direction. Effective in man coverage, tracks the ball in the air and has a nice move to the throw.
Negative: Lacks deep speed, possesses an average closing burst and a liability in downfield coverage. Hesitant reacting to receivers moves off the line and usually loses a half step from the snap of the ball.
Analysis: Mims showed a lot of progress in his game the past two seasons and offers potential as a dime back in a zone system.
