Will Tye

School: Stony Brook
Position: TE
Bio: Florida State transfer awarded All-conference honors last season. Posted a career-best 45 receptions and 520 receiving yards as a junior, when he started 10 games.
Positive: Athletic tight end with solid size/speed numbers. Uses his hands to separate from opponents, finds the open seam in the defense and nicely adjusts to errant throws. Works to keep the play in bounds running after the catch. Stays low exiting breaks and prepares himself for receptions. Fights with his hands to separate from defenders then uses his frame to box out opponents. Shows the ability to get downfield into the secondary and a consistent hand catcher.
Negative: Gets minimal results blocking for a larger tight end. Late off the snap. Lacks great height.
Analysis: Offering the size and skill to line up as a tight end/H-back/fullback, Tye offers upside but must improve his blocking to have any chance of a career at the next level. At the very least he's worth consideration on a practice squad.
