Kennard Backman

School: Alabama-Birmingham
Position: TE
Bio: Two-year starter who led UAB with 39 receptions for 399 yards and 3 TDs last season.
Positive: Relatively athletic tight end prospect who stands out as a receiver. Displays outstanding focus and concentration, gets vertical to compete for the ball and displays soft, consistent hands. Nicely adjusts to errant throws and makes the difficult catch with defenders draped on him. Extends and consistently makes receptions away from his frame. Plays with outstanding focus and concentration.
Negative: Lacks overall blocking balance, strength and struggles to finish. Lacks growth potential as a blocker.
Analysis: Backman is an under-the-radar tight end prospect with a solid combination of athleticism and pass catching skill. He'll need time to develop and only fits certain systems but possesses the underlying and football skill to play the next level.
