Jesse James

School: Penn State
Position: TE
Bio: Posted a career-best 38 receptions, 396 yards and 3 TDs last season when he split time with Kyle Carter. Sophomore totals included 25 receptions.
Positive: Large, fluid tight end with big upside. Plays faster than his 40 time, getting down the field and creating mismatches. Outmuscles defenders to come away with receptions, using his frame to shield away opponents and protect passes. Nicely extends to make receptions away from his frame. At times looks more like a large possession receiver than he does a tight end. Stays square and works his hands as a blocker. Keeps his feet moving and plays through the whistle.
Negative: Possesses limited football strength, has a thin lower body and gets minimal results blocking. Must improve his route running.
Analysis: James has shown steady progress the past two years and is a tight end prospect whose best football is further down the line.
