Todd Gurley

School: Georgia
Position: RB
Bio: Three-year starter who played in five games last season before sustaining a knee injury which ended his campaign. Still finished the year with 911 yards rushing and 9 TDs. Freshman totals of 2012 included a career-best 1385 yards rushing and 17 TDs. Sophomore totals included 37 receptions for 441 yards and 5 receiving touchdowns.
Positive: Versatile ball carrier with potential as a feature runner in the NFL. Patient, waits for blocks to develop and finds the open lanes. Easily changes direction, displays a burst through the hole and gets a lot of momentum going up the field. Fires through the cutback lanes and loses little momentum altering the direction of his runs. Quick footed in a small area. Effectively follows blocks everywhere, keeps the play in bounds and works to pick up positive yardage. Powerful, breaks tackles and picks up yardage off initial contact. Effective receiver out of the backfield extending to make receptions away from his frame. Helps the quarterback sell ball fakes. Has a fluid and smooth style.
Negative: More of a one-speed ball carrier and not a breakaway runner. Plays with solid but not great quickness and now comes off a knee injury.
Analysis: Prior to his injury last year, Gurley projected as the #1 back in this draft and a potential mid 1st-round choice. He possesses the size, ball skills and versatility to be a feature runner at the next level but must first get back to health and prior form.
