Lyle McCombs

School: Rhode Island
Position: RB
Bio: UConn transfer who played in six games last season after suffering a broken finger. Finished with 663 yards rushing and 5 TDs. Junior totals at UConn included 670 yards rushing after a career-best 860 yards on the ground as a sophomore.
Positive: Small but nifty ball carrier who creates yardage. Double-cut runner who easily changes direction without losing momentum. Patiently waits for blocks develop, finds the running lanes and turns on his burst a single step. Runs North/South and works to get as much yardage as possible every time the ball is in his hands. Easily beats defenders around the corner or into the open field. Possesses soft, natural hands out of the backfield.
Negative: Poor blocker who does little more than get in the way. Has size limitations and marginal strength. Easily brought down by a single defender.
Analysis: McCombs is a situational player with potential as a third-down back and pass catcher out of the backfield.
