Blake Sims

School: Alabama
Position: QB
Bio: Moved into the starting quarterback role last season throwing for 3487 yards, 28 TDs and 10 INTs. Also rushed for 350 yards and another 7 TDs.
Positive: Athletic college quarterback who may be best at running back in the NFL. Displays vision and instincts carrying the ball, easily cuts back against the grain and quickly gets through running lanes. Terrific with ball fakes, elusive and easily avoids the rush or scrambles away from defenders. Stands in the pocket taking a big hit to get the throw away and possesses the arm strength necessary to make all the passes. Moves around the pocket to give himself a better view of the field.
Negative: Inaccurate, sprays his throws and misses wide-open receivers. Struggles placing passes and makes receivers work to catch the ball.
Analysis: Sims did a solid job as Alabama's starting quarterback last year but lacks the mechanics and accuracy to stay at the position in the NFL. A terrific athlete, he's likely to be tried as a running back/punt returner over the summer.
