Neiron Ball

School: Florida
Position: OLB
Bio: Started seven games each of the past two seasons. Senior totals included a career-best 49 tackles despite missing three games with a knee injury which required a micro fracture procedure to repair. Ran the forty in 4.58 seconds at the combine.
Positive: Athletic weakside linebacker with good size and movement skills. Breaks down well, uses his hands to protect himself and fluid changing direction. Quick getting outside the numbers, effective in space and fires up the field to fill gaps defending the run. Displays terrific range, explosive on the blitz and possesses a burst of closing speed. Flows well laterally and sells out to make plays.
Negative: Struggles getting off blocks and controlled by tight ends. Marginally productive in college. Coming off a knee injury.
Analysis: At face value, Ball is a terrific weakside linebacker prospect who showed ability defending passes and the run during his Gator career. His ability to get back to playing form off the injury and improve his game will dictate his role at the next level.
