Max Valles

School: Virginia
Position: OLB
Bio: Broke into the starting lineup on a full-time basis last season posting 55 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and 9 sacks. Also defended 8 passes.
Positive: Fluid, athletic defensive front seven player with upside. Easily moves to every direction of the field, covers a lot of area and shows ability in pursuit. Plays faster than his 40 time, gets depth on pass drops and shows ability in space. Fast off the edge, turns the corner with speed and a disruptive force behind the line of scrimmage. Effectively uses his hands and keeps his feet moving on contact.
Negative: Does not consistently play with a sense of urgency. Must get stronger as he's handled at the point of attack by lesser tight ends. Ran poorly at the Combine and at his pro day.
Analysis: After one productive season on the college field Valles decided to bolt for the NFL. Needing to physically mature and get stronger, he comes with an upside but will need a significant amount of development before he's NFL ready.
