Steve Edmond

School: Texas
Position: ILB
Bio: Three-year starter at middle linebacker who posted a career-best 131 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks as a senior.
Positive: Tough, thumping middle/inside linebacker prospect with an underrated game. Strong, instinctive and works hard. Fires through the gaps up the field, delivers heavy blows and forces the action. Defeats blocks to get to the play, wraps up tackling and brings opponents down at the point of attack. Keeps the action in front of him, displays cover skills in the box and effectively uses his hands to protect himself.
Negative: More of a straight-line linebacker, lacks a quick change of direction and lateral speed. Struggles to redirect or immediately alter his angle of attack.
Analysis: Edmond was a consistent force for the Longhorns defense and is underrated in many scouting circles. He's a two-down defender, who can handle coverage assignments in zone. I would not be surprised if Edmund develops into a starter at the next level.
