Jake Ryan

School: Michigan
Position: ILB
Bio: Four-year starter who also saw action at defensive end as a freshman. Senior totals included a career-best 112 tackles.
Positive: Instinctive and tough linebacker with underrated athleticism. Efficient, takes good angles to the action and quickly locates the ball. Fires up the field filling gaps in run defense, wraps up tackling and shows a good feel for what's happening. Remains disciplined with assignments, does not bite on play action passes or have mental lapses. Makes the calls for the Michigan defense. Sells out to make plays.
Negative: Not quick backpedaling and does not get depth on pass drops. Average lateral speed in pursuit.
Analysis: Ryan is a terrific box defender who stacks well against the run and shows a head for the ball. Despite bouncing around the Michigan defense and never developing at a single position, he's a solid linebacker prospect with a good degree of upside.
