Tonga Takai

School: Montana
Position: DT
Bio: Three-year starter awarded all conference honors as a senior after totals of 49 tackles, 7 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Junior numbers included 32 tackles.
Positive: Large, overpowering defensive tackle prospect who dominates the line of scrimmage. Fires off the snap with a quick first step, bull rushes up opponents off the line of scrimmage or collapses the pocket. Keeps his hands active, holds his ground and impossible to move off the point. Has a thick build, keeps his feet moving on contact and tough to handle.
Negative: More of a gap occupier rather than a playmaker. Plays with inconsistent pad level and often times gets tall, allowing opponents to neutralize him. Average closing burst.
Analysis: Takai is a better athlete than given credit for and offers the size as well as strength to line up at tackle in a conventional four-man line.
