Broderick Hekking

School: Nevada
Position: DE
Bio: Three-year starter awarded all-conference honors since his sophomore campaign. Senior totals included 50 tackles, seven tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. Junior numbers included 9 sacks as well as 14.5 tackles for loss after 75 tackles as a sophomore.
Positive: Undersized college pass rusher who may be best standing up over tackle at the next level. Fluid moving in a straight line as well as laterally, chases the action hard and plays smart, tough football. Breaks down well, plays with good pad level and collapses down the line of scrimmage in pursuit of the action. Quick off the snap and a high effort defender.
Negative: Does not show a great burst off the edge and really does not play to his 40 time. Struggles getting off blocks and easily handled at the point of attack.
Analysis: Hekking was very productive at Nevada the past three seasons and displays legitimate pass rushing skill. He could be a situational outside linebacker in a 3-4 alignment if he continues to develop his game and plays well on special teams.
