Tye Smith

School: Towson
Position: CB
Bio: Three-year starter awarded All-conference honors the past three years and named as an All-American after his senior campaign. Career totals of 103 tackles, 2 INT's and 12 PBUs came during his junior season.
Positive: Feisty cornerback with solid ball skills. Quick flipping his hips, stays with receivers out of breaks and shows an explosive burst to passes. Plays heads-up football, keeps the action in front of him and effectively diagnoses plays. Aggressive, goes hard after opponents and gives effort defending the run. Displays a sense of timing, flies around the field and plays faster than his 40 time. Wraps up tackling and a solid open field tackler.
Negative: Possesses a thin build and may physically struggle at the next level. Lacks elite speed and will be a liability in downfield coverage.
Analysis: Smith was a consistent performer on the college field and a cornerback with good ball skills and instincts. Unlikely to be drafted, he's a solid free-agent signing with a real opportunity as a dime back/special teams player.
