Trae Waynes

School: Michigan State
Position: CB
Bio: Two-year starter awarded All-conference and All-America honors last season. Totals included 46 tackles and three interceptions.
Positive: Well-sized cornerback with a ton of upside. Engages opponents at the line of scrimmage, mixes it up throughout the route and physically beats down receivers to break up throws. Aggressive in his entire game and quick up the field defending the run. Fluid and smooth, flips his hips transitioning with opponents down the field and has a closing burst to the ball. Effectively recognizes routes in zone coverage, plays with a lot of quickness and displays good hands for interceptions.
Negative: Gets confused and at times left flat-footed. Average production on the college level.
Analysis: Waynes started hitting his stride as a sophomore then displayed a ton of progress last season. He offers size, speed and developing ball skills which, in time, should help him earn a starting position in the NFL. He's a solid prospect but not the top-10 pick some are making him out to be.
