Steven Nelson

School: Oregon State
Position: CB
Bio: Junior-college transfer who started the past two seasons. All-conference selection as a senior after 60 tackles, 2 INTs and 8 PBUs.
Positive: Nice-sized cornerback with solid ball skills. Effectively reads or diagnoses plays, fires to the ball out of his plant and displays a sense of timing. Reads the quarterbacks eyes, stays on the receivers hip out of breaks and mixes it up to defend the throw. Plays tough, aggressive football, quick up the field defending running plays or screen passes and gives effort.
Negative: At times struggles making plays with his back to the ball in downfield coverage. Not a big bodied cornerback and more of a drag down tackler.
Analysis: Nelson was consistent and productive during his time at Oregon State and will be a solid middle-round pick who can line up in nickel packages at the next level.
