Shaquelle Evans

School: UCLA
Position: WR
Positive: Full-time starter the past two seasons, leading UCLA in receptions both years. Senior totals included 47 receptions, 709 receiving yards, and 9 TDs after 60 receptions and 877 receiving yards as a junior. Well-built, one-speed receiver best in underneath coverage. Fluid releasing off the line of scrimmage. Quickly gets into breaks and sharp exiting routes. Gets up in a crowd, extends to grab the ball from the air, and takes a pounding but holds onto the throw. Fights with his hands to separate from defenders. Effective running after the catch. Easily makes the over-the-shoulder reception in stride. Comes back into the clearing to make himself an available target.
Negative: Lacks a burst and downfield speed. Takes his eyes off the ball, does a bit of double catching, and occasionally runs before he's actually caught the ball.
Analysis: Evans is a big pass catcher who plays tough, competitive football. He needs to improve his consistency but offers possibilities as a fourth receiver at the next level.
