Alex Bayer

School: Bowling Green
Position: TE
Positive: Two-year starter coming off a career season. Efficient tight end who lacks great athleticism and upside potential. Quick, agile, and stays low exiting breaks. Uses his hands to separate from opponents and come free. Positions himself to make catches, extends and snatches the ball from the air. Quickly transitions to running after the catch. Easily makes catches in stride, adjusting to the errant pass and displaying strong hands. Stays square as a blocker and keeps his feet moving.
Negative: One-speed tight end and does not get downfield separation. Lacks bulk and overall functional football strength as a blocker.
Analysis: Bayer was a reliable tight end at Bowling Green but lacks any special skill to his game. He's more reliable than spectacular but the willingness to do the little things could help him catch on as the third man on a depth chart.
