Richard Spencer

School: UTEP
Position: S
Positive: Two-year starter who posted 26 tackles in just three games last season. Junior numbers included 36 tackles in four games. Struggled with knee injuries and suspensions the past two seasons. Forceful safety best defending the run. Displays a terrific straight-line burst of speed, quick up the field, and squares up to runners. Defeats blocks to get to the action and easily brings runners down at the point of attack.
Negative: Possesses marginal ball skills. Watched the development of his game stagnate the past two years due to a variety of issues.
Analysis: Spencer possesses the size and speed to be used as a zone safety and special teams demon at the next level but must show durability on the field and maturity off it to have a career in the NFL.
