Adrian Phillips

School: Texas
Position: S
Positive: Full-time starter at safety the past two seasons after playing five games with the first team at cornerback as a sophomore. Senior totals included a career-best 82 tackles as well as 2 INTs and 3 PBUs. Nice-sized safety prospect with a complete game. Displays a good change of direction, solid lateral movement skills, and the ability to get outside the numbers to make plays. Quickly closes to the action, explosive, and drives through tackles, squaring and wrapping up runners. Fires up the field and voluntarily defends the run.
Negative: Average ball skills. At times too quick up the field and takes himself from the action.
Analysis: Phillips was consistent in the Texas secondary but comes with size-speed limitations. He has enough skill to get consideration as a dime back who can play in zone or man coverage but is a prospect who must earn his wage on special teams.
