Jerome Smith

School: Syracuse
Position: RB
Positive: Full-time starter the past two seasons, leading Syracuse in rushing yards during both campaigns. Junior totals included 914 yards and 12 TDs after 1171 yards and 3 TDs the prior year. Big-bodied runner best between the numbers. Displays terrific vision, better than average quickness for a bigger back, and power in his all-around game. Has a burst through the hole, keeps his feet moving, and breaks a lot of tackles. Powerful short-yardage runner with a pounding style that wears down opponents. Works his runs and stays with the action.
Negative: Not a quick cutback runner and best in a straight line. Must pick up the blocking intensity. Poor receiver out of the backfield and fights the ball.
Analysis: Smith is a bit of a tweener as he lacks the size to grind it out on the inside and does not possesses the athleticism necessary to be used around tackle.
