Charles Sims

School: West Virginia
Position: RB
Positive: Three-year starter who began his college career at Houston. Senior totals included a career-best 1095 yards rushing with 11 TDs. Also had 45 receptions for 401 yards and 3 touchdowns. Junior totals of 2012 included 851 yards rushing with 11 touchdowns. Career receiving numbers of 70 receptions, 759 yards and one touchdown came as a freshman at Houston. Ultra productive runner with outstanding size-speed numbers. Quick, shifty, and easily makes defenders miss at the point of attack. Patiently waits for blocks to develop, strings several moves and displays the ability to slide through the small openings of the defense. Has a burst through the hole, keeps his feet moving on contact, and turns it on in a single step. Cuts back on a dime, losing little momentum changing direction.
Negative: Does not run like a 215-pound runner. Displays average strength at the point of attack and does not pick up a lot of yardage off initial contact. Easily brought down by single a defender. Runs with a bit of an upright style. Small hands which makes ball security and pass catching difficult.
Analysis: Sims possesses both the physical and football skills to be a feature back at the next level. Productive as a runner and receiver, he flashes a complete game but must learn to do the little things correctly and play like a bigger back.
