Nathan Scheelhaase

School: Illinois
Position: QB
Positive: Four-year starter who posted a career-high 3272 yards and 21 touchdowns as a senior. Undersized college quarterback who was effective as a passer and runner. Sells ball fakes, displays good field vision, and does a terrific job commanding the offense. Effectively sets up screen passes and puts touch on throws. Senses the rush, remains poised under pressure, and easily scrambles outside the pocket to buy time for receivers. Displays velocity on his short and intermediate throws while also possessing an adequate deep arm. Keeps his eyes downfield and for the most part does a solid job locating the open receiver.
Negative: Stares down the primary target. Lacks height, struggles to see over the offensive line, and as a result often high of the mark with throws.
Analysis: Scheelhaase was productive at Illinois but lacks the physical skills to be anything other than a camp body in the NFL.
