James Franklin

School: Missouri
Position: QB
Positive: Three-year starter who struggled with injuries the past two seasons. Senior totals included 2429 yards passing with 19 TDs and 6 INTs. Career-best totals of 2865 yards passing and 21 TDs came as a sophomore. Athletic quarterback who displayed a great amount inconsistency the past two years. Scans the field, goes through receiver progressions, and delivers a catchable throw. Sits in the pocket as it collapses around him and gets the ball away. Throws with a fluid delivery, puts touch on throws or drives the deep passes and allows receivers to run to the ball. Elusive, loses nothing throwing on the move, and has the ability to pick up yardage with his legs. Displays a sense for what's happening as well as the ability to command the offense and lead his team down the field.
Negative: Must improve his overall pass placement and sense of timing. Has receivers waiting on throws. Indecisive under the rush. Does not consistently set his feet in the pocket.
Analysis: Franklin looked like a legitimate NFL prospect after his sophomore season but injuries and confidence concerns plagued him the following two years. He's an athletic quarterback capable of handling a read-option attack once he gets his game back on track and consistently plays to his talent.
