Aaron Murray

School: Georgia
Position: QB
Positive: Four-year starter who suffered a season-ending ACL injury 11 games into his senior campaign. Totals last season included completing 64.8% of his passes for 3075 yards and 26 touchdowns. Career-best totals of 3893 passing yards and 36 TDs came during his junior campaign. Finished his career with SEC career records for pass completions, passing yards, touchdown passes, and total offense. Ultra-productive college quarterback with size limitations. Patient in the pocket, consistently keeps his eyes downfield, and goes through receiver progressions looking for the open target. Buys as much time as necessary, remains poised as the pocket collapses around him, and makes good decisions under the rush. Spreads the ball around using all his targets and takes the safe underneath outlet if nothings available. Does not force the ball into covered receivers and displays a great sense of knowing where his targets are. Effectively sets up screen passes and puts touch on throws when necessary. Possesses a quick release, immediately gets the ball out of his hands, and short passes display good velocity. Accurate in the short and intermediate field, displays a sense of timing on throws, and does not have receivers waiting on the ball. Throws good corner patterns, giving targets a chance to make catches. Elusive with the ability to pick up yardage carrying the ball.
Negative: Lacks size, cannot withstand the rush, and easily brought down by a single defender. Lacks height and struggles seeing over the line of scrimmage. Holds the ball too long trying to make something happen.
Analysis: Murray was a poised leader on the college field always in command of the situation and a passer who made good decisions with the ball. He lacks the measurables and arm strength for the next level but would do well as a second quarterback in a West Coast or timing offense.
