Shaquil Barrett

School: Colorado State
Position: OLB
Positive: Three-year starter who began his career at Nebraska-Omaha. Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year in 2013 after totals of 80 sacks, 20.5 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks. Primarily came out of a three-point stance last season. Posted a career-best 99 tackles at linebacker as a sophomore. Swift, undersized linebacker prospect who shows great range. Quickly changes direction, easily alters his angle of attack, and displays speed moving in every direction of the field. Gets depth on pass drops and has a burst to the action. Remains disciplined with coverage assignments and runs downfield with backs defending the pass.
Negative: Struggles getting off blocks and slowed through the traffic. Out of position last season, which hurt his development.
Analysis: Barrett is a hard-working one-gap linebacker prospect with the instincts and speed to play at the next level.
