Positive: Three-year starter who posted a career-best 48 tackles as a senior. Junior numbers included 10.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. Off-the-field issues include an allegation of sexual assault dating back to 2011. Tough, relatively athletic defender who makes a lot of plays on the ball. Breaks down well, effectively diagnoses plays, and remains disciplined with assignments. Quick off the snap coming out of a three-point stance. Shows a fluid change of direction and is rarely knocked off his feet. Strong at the point, defeats blocks, and quickly closes to the action. Moves well laterally and chases the action hard. Forceful off the edge as a pass rusher. Shows skill in space and is constantly around the ball.
Negative: Average production in college. Has poor measurables.
Analysis: Shembo is one of the more underrated defensive prospects in this year's draft and was overshadowed by much of the talent on the Notre Dame defense. He'll do well at the next level as a one-gap defensive end or 3-4 linebacker.
