Justin Heard

School: Central Arkansas
Position: OLB
Positive: Three-year starter who led Central Arkansas in tackles the past two years. Speedy, one-gap linebacker best in pursuit. Displays a good head for the ball, takes correct angles to the action, and relatively efficient. Slips blocks, shows a burst of speed in a straight-line or laterally, and easily gets outside the numbers to make plays. For the most part instinctive, gets depth on pass drops, and quick moving to every direction of the field. Wraps up when tackling.
Negative: Undersized and engulfed at the point of attack. More of a chase-and-run linebacker who must have a free path to the play.
Analysis: Heard is an undersized but athletic college linebacker whose only opportunity at the next level is on special teams and backing up in a one-gap defense.
