Greg Blair

School: Cincinnati
Position: ILB
Positive: Junior-college transfer who made a big impact at Cincinnati the past two seasons. Instinctive, takes terrific angles to the action, and chases hard to make plays. Covers a lot of area but plays within himself and stays with assignments. Gets outside the numbers to make plays in pursuit, scrapes well laterally, and shows a feel in coverage. Constantly around the action.
Negative: Struggles handling blocks and taken from the action by a single opponent. Was not the playmaker or force last season he showed himself to be in 2012. Average speed and at times seems to lumber around the field.
Analysis: Blair was a dominant linebacker after moving into the lineup in 2012 but never elevated his game last season despite dropping 20 pounds. He's a solid run defender who can also play in zone coverage and should get serious consideration on the inside of a 3-4 alignment.
